North Korea has developed biological weapons to attack the West

Newly leaked documents have confirmed that Kim Jong-un is planning to attack the West using biological weapons to spread deadly diseases.

The chilling papers have unearthed a plot to strike Western nations with poisonous gas and bacteria as tensions grow between the US and North Korea.

The shocking revelation confirms fears that the rogue state has developed anthrax as a biological agent as well as developing diseases cholera, plague and smallpox to wipe out its enemy.

According to US think-tank the Rand Corporation report, a non-profit institution which aims to improve decision-making and policy through research and analysis, the leak also confirms that North Korea has been developing biological weapons since the early 1980s.

South Korea, the United States, and Japan are cited among the countries under the threat of an imminent attack.

Express reports: Dr. Ken Alibek, a former senior scientist in the Soviet biological weapon program, has said:

“I'm 100 per cent sure North Korea still has this virus.

“Even in the late 80s, we had some information obtained from Soviet intelligence service that North Korea was developing biological weapons, involving anthrax, plague, smallpox, and several others.”

The report, published in 2013, said: “The Republic of Korea Ministry of Defence asserts that ’the North may also dare to launch a secret attack in the rear through its SOF troops armed with biological weapons.’

“A Republic of Korea Ministry of Defence White paper traces the initiative for North Korean biological weapons development back to the 1980s.

“In the 1980s, the military turned to the development of biological weapons according to Kim Il-sung’s directive that ‘poisonous gas and bacteria can be used effectively in war.’

“The North is also suspected of maintaining numerous facilities for cultivating and producing the bacteria of anthrax and other forms of biological weapons.”

It is warned even a kilogram could “disrupt most military targets” and could be delivered missiles and aircraft.

The report says:

“Even a kilogram of many types of biological weapons could disrupt most military targets if delivered properly and this quantity could easily be delivered by special operations forces. Missiles and aircraft could also deliver this quantity of biological weapons.

“Indeed, North Korea special forces are a likely means for delivering North Korean biological weapons. North Korea has some 200,000 special forces, a small fraction of which could deliver devastating biological attacks against South Korea, Japan, and even the United States.

“North Korea could use biological agents in isolation, perhaps as an escalated provocation in which it seeks to infect a limited number of people, or it could use biological agents as the leading edge of an invasion of the ROK, hoping for thousands or even more infections to weaken the ROK’s defences and will to fight. Biological weapon use in the latter context is particularly worrisome.”

Universities and research institutes are among the places across the hermit kingdom where North Korea’s biological weapon program is being developed, according to the Rand report.

It reads:

“In 1993, the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, successor to the Soviet Union’s KGB, released a statement that said, in part: ‘North Korea is performing applied military-biological research in a whole number of universities, medical institutes, and specialized research institutes.

“‘Work is being performed in these research centers with inducers of malignant anthrax, cholera, bubonic plague, and smallpox.

“‘Biological weapons are being tested on the island territories belonging to the DPRK (Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea).’ Mr. Gordon Oehler, director of the CIA’s [Central Intelligence Agency’s] Non-Proliferation Centre, confirmed this Russian report.’”

The information comes to light as North Korea and US relations deteriorate following Kim Jong-un’s recent successful intercontinental ballistic missile test.

World War Three fears have been growing as North Korea continues to flex its military muscle and experts warn the nation is capable of reaching Alaska and as far as the west coast.
